This was a limited budget project but very exciting. She likes vibrant
colors and needed a lift after loosing her husband. We started with a
bright yellow kitchen with red accents. She had old formica countertops
that were chipped and faded. I painted her countertops with Giani
countertop refinish kit. I used a spray called Montana Marble to get the
quartz vein effect. I then applied a stick-on backsplash.
The entry was boring and faded so we painted it a deep blue to accent
her blue living area. I replaced the light fixture with a fun sparkly one.
Her flooring was faux wood planks which had been ruined by pets. We
replaced it with a solid luxury vinyl wood look that will be very easy to
care for. She chose some inexpensive carpet that we ordered in a very
small amount and had bound for area rugs. She has a large window in
her living room that had old outdated drapes we replaced with 2” faux
Rearranging her art and consolidating pictures was our next project.
The only purchase we made were collage picture frames and the rest
were existing. Just moving them around gave her a whole new look.
Her kitchen was cluttered with a collection of magnets that had good
memories for her. She didn’t want to give them up so we made a
display of them in her utility room. The homeowner is very pleased with
her new look and feels uplifted by her bright surroundings.
